The practice of oriental calligraphy is
well over 2,000 years old and is viewed as one of the most beautiful art
forms the world over. Calligraphy is usually presented in the form of a
hanging scroll, called a "kakemono". The scrolls are usually
hung in ones favorite place, be it a dôjô, living room, den, office,
etc. They are traditionally given as honored gifts and can commonly be
seen in martial art schools, ancient temples, and art museums as well. |
